
As the Mercedes Benz Superdome lose almost half to its power, causing an unexpected delay during the Superbowl, it is something that rarely occurs during these special events. However, power outages occur almost every day all around the world, some of them have really been massive power outages. The largest power outage ever record happened July 2012, when India suffered a large power outage affecting more than 600 million residents. Other large outage during history are:
- Indonesia, 2005- Power outage that affected 100 million residents
- Brazil 1999- Affecting more than 96 million people
- Brazil and Paraguay 2009- Affected more than 90 million people
- United States and Canada 2003- More than 56 million were affected during the North East blackout
