The Wilshire Grand will soon be recognized as the tallest building on the West Coast. AC Martin Partners, architects of the building announced that the Wilshire Grand will be 1,100 feet tall, taller than US Bank Tower, and that includes a spire top and the first tower built in LA since 1974 without a flat roof. The tower will also feature one of the worlds fastest dual high-speed elevators, which could function during four hours of fire conditions. The $1 billion project will be topped with a sail-shaped feature that encloses a sky lobby above 70 floors of 900 four-star hotel rooms and 400,000 square feet of Class A office space. The Wilshire Grand officially closed in 2011 for deconstruction activities, which started during 2012 and is expected to take 12 months to complete. The new tower is expected to open in December 2016.
