Definition: A load bearing wall is a wall that takes and bears a load by tranferring its weight and loads to the foundation structure. Load bearing walls are usually made in concrete, block, brick and wood. In housing construction, load-beraing walls sits on wall sill plate. These sill platesa re bloted to the masonry or concrete footing.
